In 2023, Enel was the leading thermoelectric provider in Italy, with an installed capacity of approximately 12 gigawatts. A2A and Edison followed far behind, with a thermoelectric capacity of 7.4 and 5.6 gigawatts, respectively. Thermoelec energy was mainly derived by natural gas, followed by solid fuels, and it was the leading electricity source in Italy.
