Colombia: green coffee consumption volume 2010/11-2024/25

In the marketing year (MY) 2023/24, the total domestic consumption of green coffee in Colombia reached 2.23 million 60-kg bags, representing an increase of one percent compared to the previous year. It was expected that consumption would reach 2.265 million bags in MY 2024/25. That same year, roasted ground coffee consumption accounted for about 72 percent of the total consumption.

This Latin American country is one of the largest producers in the world and the second-largest coffee producer in the region. Due to its climate and environment, Colombia has the ideal conditions for coffee cultivation. The departments of Huila, Antioquia, and Tolima are some of the regions in the country with the largest area of cultivated coffee. In recent years, the gross production value of coffee products in Colombia has reached over ten trillion Colombian pesos.

Due to its popularity, coffee is an important export commodity. Each year, Colombia exports more than 10 million 60-kg bags of coffee. Among the top countries of destination for coffee exports are the United States, Germany, and Belgium.
