This statistic displays the number of active online alternative finance funders in the United Kingdom (UK) in 2015 and 2016, by investor type. For both active individual funders and institutional funders the numbers from 2015 to 2016 more than doubled. Active institutional funders went from just over one thousand in 2015 to almost 2.5 thousand in 2016.

"This is the fourth annual industry study, which includes data collected from 77 alternative finance platforms, as well as over 8,300 retail investors within the UK. This research was conducted over the course of six months and included three phases of research. The survey collected aggregate-level industrial data used to measure the size and growth of the industry, as well as other key metrics. This benchmark included responses from 77 platforms, capturing an estimated 95% of the visible UK online alternative finance market."
