Number of museums in the Netherlands 2020, by collection type
In 2020, the Dutch Museum Association recorded a total of 456 affiliated museums in the Netherlands. History museums accounted for over half of such cultural institutions. Art museums were also very common, representing roughly a quarter of all museums. Overall, the number of museums affiliated with the Dutch Museum Association increased by 28 in 2020.
