This statistic shows the share of individuals using drugs in Italy in 2015, by age group and by type of medicine. According to data, overall the consumption of prescription drugs was higher than the one of non-prescription drugs. However, among the people aged 65 years old and over the gap between the two types of drugs was larger. Indeed, as regards age group 15-64, 29.5 percent of the interviewed used prescription drugs and 21 percent of them took non-prescription drugs.
