The volumes of electricity sold in the regulated market in Italy was 21,858 gigawatt-hours in 2022. This value has considerably decreased over the period of consideration, from roughly 70 gigawatt-hours of electricity sold in 2012. The reason for this decline is the decision of the Italian government to liberalize the electricity and gas market by 2024, setting an end to the regulated market.
