In 2018, the majority of assets held by the main life insurance groups listed on the Italian stock exchange were linked to financial investments. Around 341 billion euros were made up of available for sales financial assets. Moreover, 135 billion euros were invested in financial assets at fair value through profit and loss accounts. Conversely, only 295 million euros was invested in real estate assets and held-to-maturity securities.
