An individual is defined as a DS consumer in a broad sense if he has consumed at least one additional nutrient or medicine over the retrospective reference period (12 months from 3 years and 1 to 6 months for under 3 years). An individual is defined as a DS consumer in the regulatory sense if he has consumed at least once a dietary supplement over the retrospective reference period. In addition, he may also have consumed one or more drugs that are sources of nutrients.
