Infrastructure of charging stations
To support the growth of electric cars, the charging station infrastructure is very important. The number of these charging stations increased significantly in the Netherlands in the period between 2011 and 2018. In 2011, the charging station volume amounted to 1,826. As of 2018, this grew to a total of 33,607 stations for electric vehicles to charge their battery. The number of quick charging stations increased as well, from 15 in 2011 to roughly 790 in 2018.
Intention to buy an electric car
According to a survey conducted on the purchase intent of electric cars, just under five percent indicated considering buying one within the next two years. Majority of the respondents mentioned intending to either buy one but without a period in mind, or not intending to buy one at all.
As of 2018, the electric car Hyundai Koda offered the longest action radius within the category of fully electric cars of 50,000 euros or lower (and available in 2017). The Hyundai drives approximately 550 kilometers before it needs to be recharged, whereas the Opel Amera – E and the Renault Zoë had an action radius of 520 and 400 kilometers, respectively.
