Infants aged up to two years were 1.19 million, the less numerous age category. As these data show, Italy suffers from a deep demographic and natality crisis. The country's population is one of the oldest in the world. In recent years, the share of Italians aged 65 years and over constantly grew, whereas the percentage of younger people declined.
