Key pharmaceutical brands produced by Chiesi 2016-2019, by revenue

Foster, Curosurf and Clenil are the key brand name drugs to treat problems of the respiratory area, developed and marketed by the Italian pharmaceutical company Chiesi. In 2019, Foster generated the largest sales revenue, with 812 million euros. Curosurf and Clenil followed far behind with revenue amounting to 229 and 143 million euros, respectively.

Chiesi in the domestic and international market

 Chiesi is among the leading Italian pharmaceutical companies based on revenue, as well as one of the European firms of this sector with the greatest level of investments in research and development. The company established itself on the pharmaceutical market back in 1979, specifically thanks to the launch of Clenil, which is, as above mentioned, still one of its key products.  

Research and development

Nowadays, Chiesi’s focus is within the respiratory area, primary care, neonatology and rare diseases. In addition, the company has recently started to explore the field of regenerative medicine and to develop eco-friendly and innovative products. Their increasing investments in research and development may suggest that innovation plays a key role in Chiesi’s business model.
