According to the study, the region with the highest number of tourist guides was Lazio (3,439 guides), followed by Tuscany (2,347 guides) and Apulia (1,513). Lombardy, Piedmont and Sicily also had over a thousand tour guides. By contrast, Aosta Valley, Italy's smallest region, had only 33 tour guides.
