Get in touch with us nowAlthough there are dams in every state, Texas was home to the highest number of dams in the United States as of April 2025. There were over 7,400 dams in the Southern state. Both Kansas and Mississippi had over 6,000 dams within their territory. Massachusetts was lower in the ranking in overall terms, but 1,340 dams was a high number considering that it has a relatively small territory. Roughly eight percent of U.S. dams were located in Texas. Overall, the U.S. had nearly 92,000 dams across the country.
