The nuclear power capacity in the United Kingdom decreased steadily in the last 20 years and amounted to a low of 5.8 gigawatts electrical from 2022 to 2024. Until 2022, UK's government did not take a strong stance on the future of nuclear energy in the country. However, after the 2022 energy crisis, it announced that it will invest in nuclear energy to boost UK's domestic energy production.
