This statistic illustrates the distribution of new business passenger cars sold in the Netherlands from 2017 up until August 2019, by type of fuel. As of August 2019, hybrids and Full EV business cars had seen in an increase within the market. The majority of business cars in the Netherlands were on petrol, however, whilst diesel decreased. This is probably due to tax rules: from 2019 onwards, the Dutch government is increasing leasing taxes (or bijtelling in Dutch) on hybrids and Full EVs. This means that in August 2019 it was relatively cheaper to lease cars which use these fuel types. This fiscal discount will cease to exist at the end of 2020.
