This statistic displays the percentage of survey respondents that knew the Zika virus could be passed from a pregnant woman to her baby during pregnancy as of 2017. According to the data, 75 percent of survey respondents correctly indicated that "yes" a woman could transmit Zika virus to her baby during pregnancy. Perinatal transmission of Zika can occur when an woman is infected with Zika virus within two weeks of birth and congenital transmission can occur if a woman is infected with Zika virus during her pregnancy, but prior to delivery.
