Italy: investment volume of the hotel sector 2013-2018

From 2013 to 2018, the investment volume of the hotel sector in Italy increased. As reported by the study, approximately 0.7 billion euros were invested in 2013. Then, this figure rose to roughly 1.3 billion euros in 2018. However, the peak of investment was recorded in 2017. During that year, about 1,6 billion euros were invested in the Italian hotel sector.

Top players of the hotel sector in Italy

To comprehend who are the sector's top players, it is necessary to differentiate domestic hotels and international chains. In 2019, ITI Hotels, and Gruppo UNA were the main domestic hotel chain groups in Italy registering the highest number of hotels. On the other side, BWH Hotel Group was by far the leading international hotel chain group in Italy in terms of number of facilities.

Italian cities with most hotel facilities

In 2019, most hotel facilities in Italy were rated with three-stars. By contrast, the lowest number of facilities were five-star and five-star S hotels. Meanwhile, the Italian cities of Rome, Milan, Venice, and Florence, housed the highest number of facilities of the country.
