When asked if they have been diagnosed with diabetes mellitus, nearly 15.2 percent of respondents with up to eight years of formal education claimed to have been diagnosed with that metabolic disorder in 2018. On average, it was estimated that 7.7 percent of Brazilian adults suffered from diabetes.

The survey was carried out in the capital city of each of the 26 Brazilian states, plus the Federal District of Brasília.
