The statistic depicts the result of a survey conducted in Italy in 2017. During the survey, Italians were asked about the role played by the relationship between parents and children in the diffusion of suicide and/or self-harm games. According to data, over 78 percent of the respondents believed that the parent-child relations were very much/quite much responsible for the diffusion of the phenomenon of games leading to suicide or physical harm. Suicide/self-harm games refer, more specifically, to the Blue Whale Challenge, also known as the Blue Whale suicide game born in Russia, which led several teenagers to commit suicide. It is an online game, in which participants are assigned to a curator who provides various acts of self-harm to be committed over the course of 50 days. On the final day, participants are urged to win the game by committing suicide.
