Mortgages constituted in Spain 2005-2022, by type of lender
The majority of mortgage loans in Spain since 2013 have been constituted by banks. In 2022, banks were responsible for about 541,000 mortgage loans, while other entities accounted for less than 68,000 loans. These figures include loans for plots, dwellings, and agricultural land. Andalusia, Catalonia, and the Community of Madrid had the highest number of loans constituted.
