Number of mortgage loans in Spain 2021-2022, by region
The number of home mortgage loans constituted in Spain in 2022 increased across all regions, with Andalusia seeing more loans than any other regions. Catalonia was and the Community of Madrid followed closely, with approximately 81,000 and 80,000 mortgage loans, respectively. The Spanish mortgage market plummeted in the period after the global financial market and, despite a period of gradual recovery, is still shy from the levels before the bubble burst.
