Tourism GDP and national GDP growth in Spain 2010-2020
The coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic strongly affected the tourism contribution to the gross domestic product (GDP) of Spain, causing it to plummet by nearly 69 percent in 2020. That same year, Spain's economy shrank by 11.1 percent. In 2019, the value of goods and services produced by the tourism sector in Spain accounted for over 12 percent of the country's GDP.
