Breakdown of electricity production in France 2021-2024, by source
Nuclear is the main energy source in France. In 2024, nuclear power accounted for 67.3 percent of the country's energy mix. Hydropower followed, at almost 14 percent. By comparison, bioenergy (or renewable thermal and waste) was the least used energy source in France at that time, with an electricity production share of two percent.
The share of electricity generated from nuclear fuel in 2023 increased compared to a year before.
