A further study from 2018 reports the average budget consecrated to clothing beauty and furniture purchases among French: it appears that both men and women in France spent around 530 euros a year for clothing, leather goods or jewelry . Regarding online purchase practices, clothing seems to be also rather often bought on the Internet by French consumer. Almost a third of interviewed in 2017 said they occasionally buy fashion items on the Internet .
Emerging eco-responsible fashion habits in France
Apparently, French consumer are more and more adopting eco-responsible behavior when buying fashion goods. For instance, a third of surveyed in 2017 declared paying attention very often to the origin – label “Made in…” – when purchasing clothes . Moreover, the share of French women who bought organic textiles products has been increasing since 2012, up to 28 percent in a 2018 survey. Finally, digital uses for fashion items are also developing in the direction of circular economy practices, such as the second-hand platform Vinted, used by more than 2/3 of French who resell their clothes online.
