Some 424,300 plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) were among the total car fleet in France as of January 1st, 2023. Most of these were petrol PHEVs, which amounted to nearly 407,100 cars. The total PHEV stock had increased by around 41.5 percent between 2022 and 2023, partly as the French government offered financial incentives for consumers purchasing PHEVs.
