House price index and annual change for existing homes France 2000-2023, per quarter
The house price index for second-hand homes in Mainland France declined in 2023, after peaking in the third quarter of 2022. In the third quarter of 2023, the index value amounted to 132.7 index points, a decline of 1.8 percent from the same period in 2022. Meanwhile, the index for new housing increased at a slightly slower rate.
The index measures the development of prices for existing homes, with 2015 chosen as a base year. An index value of 130 means that home prices rose by 30 percent since 2015.
