These figures peaked in 2006, year in which the public bidding exceeded 44 billion euros. Public tenders initiated then a downward trend and decreased sharply, with its lowest point in 2012, year in which they were valued at roughly 6 billion euros.

The values for the period between 2005 and 2010 are the result of the sum of the monthly data. The figures have been rounded.
Public administrations include works tenders published by the General State Administration, the Administrations of the Autonomous Communities, the entities that make up the Local Administration, the management entities and the common services of the Social Security, Autonomous Organizations, Public universities and entities governed by public law, whose principal activity is not market production of goods and services, or which carry out income redistribution operations, in any case not for profit and which are not financed mainly by income, whatever their nature, obtained in return for the delivery of goods or the provision of services.
