The most common health problems in France 2015

In 2015, 40 percent of French surveyed about their health problems mentioned a cold, cough or sore throat as their most common health issue. In another survey from Ipsos, 50 percent of responding French declared that they have a cold or rhinitis once a twice a year. If most French considered that they get all the medical care they need, they are also impacted by minor health problems.

Everyday health problems

According to the source, if most of respondents declared that cold symptoms were their main health problems, there were also 32 percent that mentioned sleep disorders as an issue. Sleeping problems seem to be common among French. In 2018, 74 percent of French people declared that they sometimes woke up at night, while chronic insomnia impacted between 12 and 19 percent of women in France, depending on their ages. Back and muscle problems also affected a large part of the French population.

Health in France

It seems to be a common opinion that French people are pessimistic. This statement also applied to their health. France spent 11 percent of its GDP on healthcare in 2015. Thus, despite their health system, French citizens do not appear as optimistic as other European nations when it comes to their health. In 2017, only a little over 70 percent of French rated their health as good or very good, whereas 77.3 percent of Italians and 74.3 percent of British people stated the same.
