Since 2014, smartphones have supplanted "classic" mobile phones in France. Until then, the share of French with a smartphone was lower than that with a smartphone, but competition between smartphone manufacturers has made this technological product more accessible to the general public, gradually falling the cell phone into disuse. The numbers speak for themselves: the share of French owners a smartphone increased from 17% to 65% between 2011 and 2016. This trend should be confirmed in the coming years.
