Value of investments in startups in Europe 2017-2022
European start-up investments in 2021 grew more than twofold compared to 2020, peaking at 88 billion euros. A startup is usually defined as a starting (group of) entrepreneur(s), but there are many different definitions of what makes a startup a startup. In most of these, the similarities include the age of the entrepreneur or company, the number of employees, the growth potential and level of innovation. In 2022, the total value of investments in startups in Europe decreased to approximately 74 billion euros.
