In the 2019/20 fiscal year, Europe became Jaguar’s biggest sales market. European consumers (outside the United Kingdom) pushed ahead of the UK and North America, with 35,335 units sold that year. This was a slight drop from record European figures in the 2018/19 fiscal year. More cars were sold in the UK than in any other country, at 38,515 units. This was unsurprising as the UK was the company’s home market. Although owned since 2008 by Indian automobile manufacturer Tata Motors, Jaguar still produces most of its vehicles at home in plants shared with Land Rover.

Of car producers based in the UK, Jaguar Land Rover was the largest in 2018. 449,304 vehicles were manufactured in JLR’s Birmingham, Halewood and Solihull plants. This made up roughly 30 percent of all passenger cars manufactured in the UK.

Jaguar Land Rover’s parent company Tata Motors had more than tripled their revenue figures since 2010, generating 45.2 billion U.S. dollars in 2018. By comparison, Jaguar Land Rover had made 25.8 billion British pounds (approximately 33.8 billion U.S. dollars) in global sales that same year.
