In September 2022, the social media video app TikTok was the most downloaded social app in the Google Play Store in Sweden. Users downloaded the app roughly 93.4 thousand times to their Android smartphones that month. TikTok Now ranked second with 84.8 thousand downloads, while BeReal. Your friends for real. ranked third with 53.5 thousand downloads from Android users in the Scandinavian country during the examined period.
Android vs. iPhone app ranking
The ranking shown here only included downloads from the app provider Google Play Store to Android mobile devices. The list of leading iPhone social networking apps shows a different picture. BeReal was downloaded roughly 223 thousand times to these smartphones and thus, ranked highest. Second and third most popular were TikTok Now and WhatsApp Messenger app.
Use of apps in Sweden
According to a survey conducted in 2019, 87 percent of Swedish respondents stated to have installed at least one app on their smartphones. 29 percent of individuals interviewed even installed 31 or more apps. With over 500 thousand daily active users in September 2022, the music streaming service Spotify was the most popular app in Google Play.
