The New Aquitaine region had by far the largest installed capacity of solar energy in France in 2023, with over 4.5 gigawatts. Another region located in the South of the country, Occitania, followed with an installed capacity of around 3.6 gigawatts. By comparison, Corsica was the region with the smallest solar installed capacity, at 230 megawatts.
