In 2019, the production of grapes in the Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul amounted to more than 600 thousand metric tons, out of which approximately 11.5 percent were fine wine grapes (Vitis vinifera). The production of table grapes, in turn, has decreased for two consecutive years, reaching around 544 thousand tons in 2019. Rio Grande do Sul is the leading grape producing state in Brazil.
