The value of biodiesel imports initially decreased between 2012 and 2015, reaching a low of 5.5 billion U.S. dollars in the latter year. Since 2015, biodiesel imports have net increased. The biodiesel import volume was approximately 17.6 million metric tons in 2023. Biodiesel is the most commonly sold biofuel type on the European motor fuel market.
