With the growing trend of smartphones taking over the Taiwanese market it is also worth noting that as of 2018, the number of mobile cellular subscriptions in Taiwan totaled 29.34 million. About ten million mobile users had 4G LTE subscriptions as of the end of 2015. Among these, the majority of subscriptions were provided by leading operators such as Chunghwa Telecom, Taiwan Mobile and Far EasTone. Chunghwa Telecom held the largest market share that was nearly 40 percent back in 2016 and continued to be the most popular mobile operator for business purposes in 2018.
