Potato production peaks in 2014
The average potato production in the Netherlands marked differently from year to year. At its peak in 2014, nearly 50,000 kilos of potatoes were produced per hectare on average. In lesser years, however, production dropped significantly. In 2013, the potato production amounted to just under 38,500 kilos per hectare, and in 2018 this was even lower, at roughly 36,400 kilos.

In 2018, the total potato production in the Netherlands was roughly 7,650 kilotons. In the future, the production is forecast to decline considerably. For 2019, a total production of just over 7,150 kilotons is foreseen. After 2019, it is expected that the potato production will fall year on year until 2025, when the production is estimated to be around 6,670 kilotons.
Over the past five years, Dutch potato producers who had planted Innovator potatoes were best off. Between 2014 and 2019, these producers could harvest an average of just over 50,000 kilos per hectare annually. By comparison, a hectare of Markies potatoes had an average yield of 40,828 kilos per year in this period. The Potato production peaks in 2014
