Average potato production per hectare in the Netherlands 2019, by type
In 2019, the average hectare dedicated to the production of potatoes had a yield of just under 47,000 kilos. In comparison to others, Innovator producers had a particularly good harvest, with an average production of roughly 50,600 kilos per hectare. In 2019 the yield per hectare was the second-highest in the past eight years. Potato production per hectare peaked in 2014, at nearly 50,000 kilos.
Five-year average yields
In terms of total production per hectare, the Innovator potato was not just the best choice for potato producers in 2019, it had also the best average yield over the last five years. Between 2014 and 2019, a hectare of Innovator potatoes had an average yield of nearly 46,000 kilos annually. By comparison, a similar-sized field of Fontane potatoes would produce an average of 41,000 kilos.
