During the first quarter of 2017, almost 50 percent of the electricity consumption of major non residential sites in France was provided to consumers by the Électricité de France. The Électricité de France was also responsible for 6 percent of the energy consumed by consumers in small non residential sites
Retail electricity market distribution between alternative and historical suppliers according to consumption in France on the 1st quarter 2017, based on market segments
* Alternative suppliers: new businesses, as opposed to historical suppliers.
** Historical electricity suppliers: Électricité de France (EDF), local power supply companies and their subsidiaries. An historical supplier can not be considered as an alternative one outside of its historical service area.(voir le site de la CRE)
*** Regulated sales rate only available by EDF, as opposed to market price sales available by historical and alternative suppliers.
Market distribution in four branches:
Major non residential sites (182 TWh): with a subscribed power between equal or above 250 kW. It includes major industrial sites, hospitals, supermarkets, large buildings (yearly consumption usually above 1 GWh).
Mean non residential sites (62 TWh): with a subscribed power between 36 kVA and 250 kW. For instance SMB facilities (with a usual yearly consumption set between 0.15 GWh and 1 GWh).
Small non residential sites (53 TWh): with a subscribed power below 36 kVA. Usually includes non residential mass market (independent professions, craftsmen...). Their yearly usual consumption is set below 0.15 GWh.
Residential sites (155 TWh): with a subscribed power below 36 kVA. Their yearly consumption is usually set below 10 MWh.
