This statistic shows the proportion of victims of fraud in England and Wales between April 2016 and March 2017 by age group. The age group that were most likely to be victims of fraud between April 2016 and March 2017 were aged between 35 and 44 years old with 7.4 percent of that age group falling victim to fraud. In general those aged over 75 suffered the least acts of fraud with 2.8 percent being victims.

The source adds the following information: "This represents incidents where an amount of money or cash had been stolen or taken as a direct result of fraud, regardless of any later reimbursement, or any additional charges or costs incurred (e.g. bank charges, repair costs, replacement costs etc). Incidents of computer misuse are therefore not included in the analysis."
* Fraud includes bank and credit account fraud, non-investment fraud, advance fee fraud and other fraud.
