Sales volume of soft drinks in Norway 2013-2023
Overall, the sales volume of soft drinks in Norway decreased slightly from 2013 to 2019. In 2021, the volume peaked at roughly 593 million liters. As of 2023, it amounted to around 560 million liters.In 2022, most soft drinks sold in the country contained sweetener as the sales volume reached around 367 million liters. It was ahead of the volume of soft drinks with sugar and soft drinks with fruit juice.
Sales channels
In 2022, the sales volume of soft drinks was by far highest in Norwegian grocery stores and private outlets, reaching approximately 495 million liters. In clubs and bars in the nightlife, there were roughly 50 million liters of soft drinks sold. The volume was lowest in kiosks and gas stations, as it amounted to around 16 million liters.
Consumption per Norwegian
The per capita consumption volume of soft drinks decreased constantly from 2008 to 2018. By the end of this period, 86.5 liters of soft drinks were consumed per person in Norway. By comparison, for bottled water, it was a per capita volume of 19.1 liters, while it was 5.8 liters for the consumption of energy drinks.
