In 2017, research university graduates were asked what kind of job would have their preference. 15 percent of respondents stated they would like to be a consultant. This was the second most popular job in this survey, after working in research and development. Graduates of universities of applied science had very different preferences. The same survey found that among university of applied science graduates, the social-cultural field and finance/administrative jobs were most popular.
Gender differences
This study also surveyed the differences in preferences between men and women. Among higher-educated men, CEO was the most popular job. Alternatively, they were also happy to take on another management job. Higher-educated women, on the other hand, were more interested in the social-cultural and communication fields.
Medium-sized companies most popular
Higher-educated starters prefer to work for medium-sized companies (10-50 employees). A recent survey asked these starters for what kind of company they would like to work, and nearly half stated to prefer a company which is not too big and not too small. 25 percent had a preference for semi-government and government institutions or NGOs.
