Leading CS:GO eSports players worldwide 2024, by overall earnings

Andreas Højsleth, known by his online alias, Xyp9x, was in second place in the earnings table for eSports players of the online shooter game, Counter Strike: Global Offensive as of December 2024. The Danish gamer, who is a member of team Astralis, earned around two million U.S. dollars playing CS:GO competitively. His fellow countryman, Peter Rasmussen, who goes by the alias dupreeh, occupied first spot with earnings of over 2.18 million U.S. dollars. 

Big sums to be won

Despite still being a relatively young industry, the eSports market is worth big money. Some of the leading eSports tournaments worldwide have prize pools well into the millions, with more money being put on the line every year. This is also the case with Counter-Strike: Global Offensive tournaments, as the cumulative prize pool for competitions across the world was consistently over 15 million U.S. dollars.
