Life insurance premiums to GDP ratio in Portugal 2005-2020
This statistic shows the life insurance penetration in Portugal from 2005 to 2020, measured as a life insurance premiums to GDP ratio. In 2020, the penetration reached a level of approximately 2.25 percent. This is a decrease from the 4.86 percent reached in 2015. Since 2011, several assets of Portuguese insurers were privatized after the country requested an international bailout of 78 billion euros in 2011.
