Leading non-life insurance groups in Portugal 2014, by market share
This statistic shows the leading life insurance groups in Portugal as of 2014, by market share. Insurance group Caixa Seguros, at this time owned by state-owned bank Caixa Geral de Depósitos (CGD) reached a market share of approximately 25 percent in the non-life segment in 2014, making it the market leader. The second-largest life insurance group was Grupo Tranquilidade with a market share of approximately ten percent. Since 2011, several assets of Portuguese insurers were privatized after the country requested an international bailout of 78 billion euros in 2011.
