Insurance group Caixa Seguros, at this time owned by state-owned bank Caixa Geral de Depósitos (CGD) reached a market share of approximately 25 percent in the non-life segment in 2014, making it the market leader. The second-largest life insurance group was Grupo Tranquilidade with a market share of approximately ten percent. Since 2011, several assets of Portuguese insurers were privatized after the country requested an international bailout of 78 billion euros in 2011.
