Get in touch with us nowThe official production of still wine in France amounted to about 45 million hectoliters in 2022. In comparison to the produced volume of 2006 (53.3 million hectoliters), this represents a decrease of 15.5 million hectoliters.
The value of the French wine production appears to have been fluctuating since 2015: from 12.3 billion euros down to approximately 13.8 billion euros in 2022. Regarding the volume produced, there were in total more than 40 million hectoliters of red and rosé wines estimated available at producers in the crop year 2017/2018, while white wines’ available volume was estimated at almost 27 million hectoliters.
The higher production of red wines reflects in the consumption preferences of French consumers. Furthermore, even though the overall consumption volume of wine has been decreasing during the last decades, the French remain the biggest wine drinkers among a selection of European countries.
