According to a survey conducted in South Korea in 2023, about 33 percent of South Korean respondents thought unification with North Korea was impossible. Around 30 percent believed that unification would not be possible for 30 years or more. The share of respondents who thought unification would be possible within five or 10 years has declined over time, while more people have become skeptical about a possible unification happening anytime soon or at all.
