Kaesong Industrial Complex production value North Korea 2005-2020
The Kaesong Industrial Complex (KIC) in North Korea, funded and operated in cooperation with South Korea, was shut down in 2016 as a result of tensions between the two Koreas. The Complex has not been reopened since, which is why the production figures from 2017 to 2020 are given as zero. In 2015, Kaesong Industrial Complex's production value amounted to approximately 563.3 million U.S. dollars.
As a joint inter-Korean economic project, the Kaesong Industrial Complex, located in North Korea, was established through the mutual agreement on cross-border collaboration by the South and North Korean governments in 2004.
