The production value of printing products in the printing industry in Japan saw no significant changes in 2023 in comparison to the previous year 2022 and remained at around 356.85 billion yen. However, 2023 marked the third consecutive increase of the production value in this industry.

Companies surveyed were business establishments with 100 or more regular employees (excluding business establishments under the direct management of newspaper companies.) Production value for printing statistics are determined by assessing producer's selling prices or contract prices. Values include consumption tax, except for planning and editing expenses, platemaking costs, bookbinding and processing costs, cost of media, such as paper, shipping costs, insurance, and various other expenses.
100 Japanese yen equal 0.62 U.S. dollars or 0.57 euros as of July 2024. Figures have been rounded. Data prior to 2019 come from previous reports.
