China is the country with the largest number of operational gas pipelines worldwide. As of February 2024, the Chinese gas network was made up of 442 functional pipelines – comprising different segments – with a further 302 segments either proposed or already under construction. The total number of operational gas pipelines worldwide is above 1,500.
